This film is a modern retelling of the ancient Sanskrit epic 'Ramayana' as an animated cartoon. In this short trailer the soundtrack contains elements of traditional and more modern Indian musical styles.
KS3 idea: Use this trailer to stimulate discussion of questions such as: What instruments do you hear in the soundtrack for the opening titles (first 10 seconds)? How is the music in the rest of the soundtrack different to the opening 10 seconds? In particular, which sounds would not be heard in more traditional Indian music? Get hold of a recording of the Indonesian 'Ramayana Monkey Chant' and make a comparison of the very different musical styles concerning the same subject matter.
