4. HOW TO: Install the Lesson Viewer
Introduction
If you have received a DVD or USB drive containing the Lesson Viewer then you do not need to follow these steps. However, you should see pages 4 - 7 of your User Guide for information on getting the most out of your Lesson Viewer software.
This guide will show you how to download and install the Lesson Viewer software onto your computer. The Lesson Viewer allows you to view downloaded lessons without needing to be connected to the internet. It also enables you to organise your lessons into a single location, which you can copy to a USB drive or DVD and use on any computer.
The installation process has three steps:
- Downloading the Lesson Viewer
- Unzipping the Download
- Logging In
1) Downloading the Lesson Viewer
To download the Lesson Viewer application:
PC Users: click here.
Mac Users: click here.
Your web browser may ask if you wish to "save" or "open" the file - choose "save". If you are asked to choose a location to save the file, make sure you save it somewhere you will be able to access later.
Download speed may vary depending on your internet connection. Most broadband connections should allow you to download the Lesson Viewer in a few minutes.
2) Unzipping the Lesson Viewer
Once the download is complete, open the downloaded zip file by double-clicking on it, or choosing "Open" from within your web browser. Your web browser may perform this step automatically.
A folder will then open, containing three items.
3) Creating a Lesson Viewer folder
Create a new folder on your computer by right-clicking (or command-clicking on a Mac) and selecting New Folder, and name it "Lesson Viewer". Copy the contents of the downloaded zip file into this new folder.
Whenever you import Lessons to your Lesson Viewer they will now be saved into this folder. This means that you can copy this folder onto a USB drive or DVD and use it on different computers, and so have access to your lessons when away from your own computer.
4) Logging In
You will have received an email containing your website username and password. You are able to use the Lesson Viewer without these details, but will be unable to add any Lessons until you have logged in. If you have forgotten, or have not been issued with, your username or password click here.
Double-click on the Lesson Viewer application to run it. Enter your username in the box provided and click "Login". If you are connected to the internet you will be asked for your password the first time you do this.
